Common Golf Injuries And How To Avoid Them
In a typical game of golf, a player swings anywhere between 75 to 100 times. With all this repetitive motion, not being in shape and slightly wrong positioning can lead to injuries. And that’s just one aspect of the game. Here are some of the most common golf-related injuries and how to avoid them.
Back pain is quite common for golfers who are just starting out. Golfers spend hours hunched over their club then proceed to swing half their body when hitting the ball. This causes serious stress to the lower back. To prevent this, work on your form and exercise those back muscles regularly. If you can, focus on the trapezoid and pectoral muscles. Yoga is a great exercise that can strengthen your back, your core, and improve flexibility.

Rotator cuff injuries are also common for golfers. Rotator cuffs are the four stabilizing muscles located in the shoulders. Straining these muscles could lead to the tearing of tendons or muscles. Rotator cuff impingements can also cause serious pain for golfers. To avoid this, engage in regular strength training and stretching. Focus on your shoulder muscles, back, and abs.
Lastly, we have tendinitis. This can be experienced in the wrist and the elbows. Too much stress in your wrist from improper form can cause swelling. Similarly, the inner and outer tendons of the elbow can also experience inflammation. If you keep experiencing these, try to study your form. It also helps to condition your arms and forearms.
